Hosting

We operate this website and our ticket system ourselves on servers in Germany hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. As the hosting provider, Hetzner is a recipient of the data processed to operate these services. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in providing a secure website. We serve fonts and images ourselves without using external content delivery networks for them.

Server log files

Visits require the processing of connection and request data, particularly the IP address, requested page and time. Technical operating and error logs support service delivery, troubleshooting and prevention of abuse. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation.

The website gateway does not keep a general access log of all page visits. Local operating logs rotate by size: up to five files per service instance, each rotating at 10 MiB. Centrally collected operating logs have a 30-day retention period; subsequent technical deletion runs asynchronously, no earlier than two hours after marking for deletion. Local retention time therefore depends on log volume.

Language selection and cookies

The URL determines the language: German without a language prefix and English under /en. We do not determine your location or the country of your IP address for this purpose. Any previously set language cookie is ignored.

The public website does not set cookies for language selection, analytics or advertising. Optional statistics are activated only with your consent; we do not embed advertising trackers. The processing by hosting and email providers described here serves site operation and communication.

Optional statistics (with consent)

Only with your explicit consent do we collect page views for minimal-data audience measurement. Without consent, we neither load the statistics script nor send statistics data. We use no analytics cookies, advertising profiles or screen recordings.

We collect page paths without query parameters or fragments, the referring website without its path, timing, technical information about browser, operating system, device, language and screen size, and an approximate geographic location. Form contents, names, email addresses and personal user identifiers are excluded. The IP address is processed transiently for technical handling and for a pseudonymous identifier that changes daily; it is not stored in the statistics database. Data from different websites is not linked.

Configlane operates these statistics on its own infrastructure at Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The dashboard is accessible internally only. Statistics data is deleted automatically after 90 days; encrypted backups are retained for no more than 14 days.

The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. We remember your choice locally in your browser for 180 days to respect it on later visits (Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG). You may change it and withdraw consent for the future at any time through “Privacy settings” in the footer. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control prevent statistics even with stored consent. Permission for maps or videos is separate.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we process the details you enter (topic, project information, name, company, email address and an optional phone number) to handle your enquiry. Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR applies where this concerns a contract with you or steps towards one. Other enquiries, including those from a company's contact person, are based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in handling business communication.

Your enquiry is stored as a case in our self-hosted Zammad ticket system at the hosting provider named above. The system generates an internal notification and an acknowledgement to your email address. The acknowledgement contains the case number but no copy of your form text. These messages and subsequent replies use the email provider named below.

To protect against automated submissions, the website also processes your IP address, a request counter and timing information in memory. The counting window is one hour; expired entries are replaced when used again, removed during memory cleanup or discarded when the server process ends. This processing is solely for abuse prevention under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Email communication

We use STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany, to receive, send and store email. STRATO processes sender and recipient addresses, subject lines, message content, attachments where provided and technical delivery data. This applies both to direct email and messages from our ticket system. As with contact enquiries, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

Hosting and email handling use the providers named above in Germany. Messages sent to your mailbox are also processed by your own email provider. We do not sell your contact details or use enquiries for advertising tracking.

Retention of enquiries

We retain enquiries and related communication for as long as necessary to handle them and, where relevant, perform a contract. The data is then deleted unless statutory retention duties or necessary evidence for establishing, exercising or defending legal claims require further storage. In those cases, further use is limited to that retention purpose.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation. Please use the contact details above. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, including the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
